How to Find Auchtermuchty

Auchtermuchty is situated about 30 miles north of Edinburgh and 15 miles south-east of Perth, about 8 miles from the M90 motorway.

Coming from Edinburgh you cross the Forth Road Bridge, up the M90 and turn off at Junction 8 (signposted Cupar and St Andrews)
In about eight miles you'll come to Auchtermuchty, having passed through Gateside on the way.

Coming from Glasgow you come across Kincardine Bridge and follow signs to Kinross. At Kinross you turn left on to the M90 motorway and come off two junctions further up at Junction 8. If you don't like motorways just go straight on into the centre of Kinross and turn left at the mini-roundabout - you'll end up at the same place!

Coming from Stirling direction you can either come along the Hillfoots road through Tillicoultry and Dollar (in Stirling it's signposted "A91 St Andrews") in which case you'll come to the M90 at Junction 7. Turn left on to the motorway and come off at the next junction (Junction 8). Then just keep on the A91 for about eight miles until you come to Auchtermuchty. If you don't like motorways just keep straight on into Milnathort and turn left at the mini-roundabout - you'll end up at the same place!
Alternatively some people find it just as quick and easy to go up the A9 and come to Auchtermuchty via Perth.

Coming from Perth direction, take the M90 south and turn left at Junction 9 (it's the first junction at the bottom of the hill).
Head along the long straight towards Glenfarg. At the mini-roundabout by the Baiglie Inn go straight on and up into Glenfarg. Halfway up the glen turn left at the Bein Inn. This will eventually bring you to a T-junction at Gateside. Turn left and in three miles you'll come to Auchtermuchty.

As you come into Auchtermuchty from the West, keep straight on along the main road until you see the pedestrian crossing by the Royal Hotel. Turn left immediately after the crossing.

Coming from Dundee or Aberdeen, cross the Tay Bridge and keep straight on. Go straight on at the roundabout at the end of the bridge and straight on at the next two roundabouts. Keep straight on for twelve miles until you come to the Melville roundabout. Turn right on to the A91 and it's three miles to Auchtermuchty.

From St. Andrews or East Neuk, take the A91 towards Cupar. Just keep straight on through Cupar and in another ten miles you'll come to Auchtermuchty.

As you come into Auchtermuchty from the East the main road is quite narrow and twisty. Turn right at the first crossroads. You should see the Royal Hotel and a pedestrian crossing just past the crossroads.

From Glenrothes and south of Fife:
Take the A92 towards Cupar and, at the end of the dual-carriageway, turn left at the New Inn roundabout. Go straight through Falkland and just after you leave the 30mph speed limit turn right. (The turning is actually on a bend so take care!) Keep straight on through Dunshalt and Auchtermuchty is another half-mile.

As you come into Auchtermuchty from the south you come to a crossroads. The burn is on your left and there is an estate agents on the corner on your right. Go straight on.
